F. H. Herbert Designs opened its doors as a wholesale supplier of unique plumbing fixtures. Co-owner Carol Tanner worked closely with architects and home builders to offer bath and kitchen fixtures that would set the homes apart from others in a highly competitive market. Carol's role focused on custom plumbing product design with manufacturers, and sourcing suppliers of the world's most unique bathtubs and fixtures for a discriminating clientele.

As the business reputation grew, F. H. Herbert Designs was featured in multiple local and national magazines as the place to find luxury plumbing fixtures that were simply stunning. In 2003, F. H. Herbert Designs was awarded a contract to outfit all plumbing fixtures for a $3.4 million home featured in the Seattle Street of Dreams event, a coveted distinction for a chosen group of only seven home builders.
