Carol Tanner collaborated with Unger Construction, a new custom home builder in the Lake Wenatchee region of the Cascade Mountains located outside Seattle, Washington. In the early years, Unger Construction owner Jeff Unger looked to Carol Tanner for architectural design, interior build-out ideas, and sourcing of unique fixtures and finishes for the high-end luxury vacation homes.

The partnering effort between Unger Construction and Carol Tanner was a success from the very start. The two had created something unique in the region with high profit potential. To bring added publicity to Unger Construction and draw a spotlight on the company's values and quality, Carol approached Meredith Publications, publisher of several nationwide home decor magazines. The project was immediately accepted for review and given a 12-page feature spread in the 2000 issue of Better Homes & Gardens magazine.

From this publicity, Unger Construction continued to grow as the number one custom home builder in the region, where over 75 luxury vacation homes now flank the shores of this high alpine lake.
